Primary Care Medical Procedures

Hi, thank you for coming back for the latest edition of Beyond Primary Care’s blog- primary care medical procedures. In Beyond Primary Care blogs we highlight healthcare news, advice for medical conditions, and how membership for care works! Beyond Primary Care is an insurance free, membership based family medicine clinic. Beyond Primary Care is the highest rated Direct Primary Care clinic serving patients in Ann Arbor and throughout Washtenaw, Livingston, and Wayne counties giving families and employers peace of mind about healthcare costs by providing affordable and accessible primary care services.

In this blog post, we want to educate our patients and any prospective patients about us and primary care medical procedures we perform.

Primary Care

Many people think of primary care as routine, day-to-day healthcare from their physician as being a first stop for their medical needs. Primary care includes wellness visits, sick visits, annual vaccines, sports physicals, blood work for insulin and cholesterol, and medication refills. Primary care is critical towards prevention and early detection for many illnesses, and can usually take care of approximately 90% of your medical needs- including procedures.

Primary Care physicians- including family medicine and internal medicine, are trained to perform a wide variety of procedures. We typically offer these procedures in our office, many being completed at the time of your initial visit with the concern. This helps make our patients healthcare affordable by saving them time and money instead of going to a specialist.

Affordable Healthcare, Affordable Procedures

At Beyond Primary Care, we use a direct primary care model to provide our patients with healthcare. Meaning, we work directly for our patients and do not bill insurance for our medical services. Our membership plan offsets the costs of many procedures which allows us to pass the cost savings onto our patients.

A typical doctor’s office will charge the insurance company for the cost of the procedure, which ultimately is passed down to you- the patient- if you have deductibles to meet. As example, the typical charge for a steroid injection in the shoulder may be $100-$150. A skin biopsy of a mole may range from $120-$300. For these procedures, Beyond Primary Care typically charges $20-25, or about the cost of the supplies that we use to perform the procedure.
