Addiction Recovery

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) & Direct Primary Care

We offer an comprehensive addiction treatment plan at Beyond Primary Care which follows the American Society of Addiction Medicine treatment guidelines to reduce cravings and relapses. Because drug addiction is typically a chronic disorder characterized by occasional relapses, a short-term, one-time treatment is usually not sufficient. For many, treatment is a long-term process that involves multiple interventions and regular monitoring.

This program requires abstinence from other addictive or abused substances such as alcohol and marijuana. Patients on chronic benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, etc.) will need to slowly taper off these under the physician’s supervision.

Medication assisted treatment includes buprenorphine (brand name- Suboxone), or other anti-addiction medications (eg- such as naltrexone, vivitrol, acamprosate). We do not prescribe methadone. Our addiction treatment includes assistance with placement into Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) if needed, assistance with finding peer substance meetings (eg- NA or AA), and care coordination with a certified recovery counselor.

Like the rest of our Direct Primary Care practice, we’ve worked hard to make this affordable to our patients. Addiction treatment requires far more labor and testing resources when done properly so we are offering this as a separate, additional service. Addiction treatment is available to our primary care members for an additional fee of $50-100/month depending on the level of care required.
