Until we reach out to others to share our experiences, and not the shame, blame, and stigma associated with addiction and mental health, it will be hard to heal.
At Beyond Primary Care, we offer a comprehensive addiction treatment plan that follows the American Society of Addiction Medicine treatment guidelines to reduce cravings and relapses. Because drug addiction is typically a chronic disorder characterized by occasional relapses, a short-term, one-time treatment is usually not sufficient. For many, treatment is a long-term, if not lifelong process that involves multiple interventions and regular monitoring.
This program requires abstinence from other addictive or abused substances such as alcohol or benzodiazepines. Patients on chronic benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Ativan, etc.) will need to slowly taper off these under the physician’s supervision.
MAT includes daily buprenorphine (brand name- Suboxone, Zubsolv, Subutex), monthly injection medications (Vivitrol, Sublocade), or other anti-addiction medications (eg- such as Naltrexone, Acamprosate). We do not prescribe methadone. We offer our patients the opportunity to do start the oral medications from the privacy of their own home. Our addiction treatment includes assistance with placement into Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) if needed, assistance with finding peer substance meetings (eg- NA or AA), and care coordination with a certified recovery counselor.
Like the rest of our Direct Primary Care practice, we’ve worked hard to make this affordable to our patients. Addiction treatment requires far more meetings and testing resources when done properly so we are offering this as a separate, additional service. Addiction treatment is available to our primary care members for an additional fee of $50-100/month depending on the level of care required.
